Kindergarten:
We are learning about Mobiles. They are sculptures that hang from the ceiling and move in the air. We are making our own mobiles with yarn and pipe cleaners.
We learned about the Statue of Liberty! It was a birthday present to America from France. We created artwork to show what we would give to America for a birthday present.
We learned about Native American Totem Poles. They tell a story about the artist's family using pictures. Their stories begin at the bottom and end at the top. We made our own story Totem Poles on paper.
We talked about different kinds of lines: wavy lines, straight lines, curvy lines, thick lines, thin lines, and zig zag lines. Then we drew them on paper with white crayons. At first we couldn't see them, but then we painted over them with watercolor paints.
FALL! We noticed that the leaves change color and fall off the trees this time of year! We made Fall collages using construction paper.
Our class read The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle. Then we colored our own ladybugs and cut them out. Our last step was to place them on green paper to make it look like our ladybugs were snacking on giant green leaves.
