NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

2006-2007
National Honor Society Happenings
NHS is a national
service organization consisting of honor students who are asked to join based on
their scholarship, service, character, and leadership. The following is an
update on Crossroads Charter Academy’s chapter:
Ø
We sell pizza, pop, and candy during the high school and middle
school lunch periods every Friday.
Ø
We tutor students during advisory.
Ø
We babysit during the school’s PTO meetings. These occur after
school once a month.
Ø
At Christmas, we participated in “Adopt-A-Family”. Through
this, we purchased Christmas presents for one family so that they, too, could
celebrate Christmas with gifts.
Ø
Also at Christmas we purchased items (toys, clothes, soap, candy,
etc.) to fill shoe boxes for underprivileged children around the world. Through
Operation Christmas Child, we were able to bring Christmas to six children.
Ø
We donated money towards buying a cougar costume for the school.
You can see the CCA cougar at future sporting events.
Ø
Students at FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY held a basketball tournament
earlier this year and we organized a concessions stand for the event.
In the future….
Ø
The school year isn’t over yet and we’re not done! The NHS is
currently planning a blood drive and is looking into the possibility of holding
a lock-in/dance for the high school, along with donating towards the Hope House
Free Medical Clinic here in Big Rapids.
