Crossroads Charter Academy Awarded $30,000 Grant to Create Esports Lab and Multimedia Classroom

Crossroads Charter Academy (CCA) is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $30,000 Impact 30 Grant from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) to develop a state-of-the-art Esports Lab and Multimedia Classroom.

Authorized by GVSU, Crossroads is proud to be one of a select group of partner schools benefiting from this signature initiative, which celebrates three decades of GVSU’s leadership in charter school authorization.

Expanding Opportunities for Students
The new Esports Lab will provide students with opportunities to participate in organized Esports leagues, including pathways that may lead to college scholarships through competitive Esports. The space will also be equipped for live streaming, broadcasting, and multimedia production, allowing students to explore digital storytelling and media creation.

Designed as a flexible and engaging learning environment, the facility will serve as a hub for:

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning

Esports clubs and competitive teams

Teamwork, leadership, and collaboration

Creative production and digital media skills

By combining competitive gaming, live broadcasting, and multimedia production, the program aims to strengthen student engagement, community, and belonging while building essential 21st-century skills such as communication, problem-solving, and technology literacy.

Project Timeline
Construction: Summer 2026

Launch: Fully operational for students in Fall 2026

This project reflects Crossroads Charter Academy’s continued commitment to providing innovative learning experiences that prepare students for future careers, college pathways, and meaningful engagement in a rapidly changing world.

Additional updates will be shared as planning and construction move forward.
